WorkupWorkup

Workup is an entrepreneurship program supported by İşbank (as the main sponsor) and ran together with Kolektif House, Hackquarters (the seasoned accelerator team) and Omer Erkmen (the well-known and respected mentor and angel investor in Turkey). It is located in an area of approximately 150sqm space at Kolektif House Levent. Workup is a 6-month program and welcomes around 10 early stage startups per batch. As Isbank, we aim, with Workup, to support and accelerate startups, have a chance to work together, collaborate with them and develop business.

Workup provides mentoring and technical consulting support for business idea development, lean entrepreneurial methods, research and customer development, team building and management, law, finance and accounting, marketing and presentation techniques, sales and marketing training to technology-driven startups. In addition to the training that supports the acceleration of the startup, we make it fun to work with the help of unique Kolektif House and Workup events. During the program, the startups get mentorship, education and consultancy, access to İşbank and its partner network and introduction to the biggest Venture Capitals (VC) and angel investors of the country. The main goal of the program is to help startups with mentorship and guidance in order to scale and hopefully become global success stories. Among the mentors are domain experts in UI / UX, digital marketing, growth hacking, legal and accounting etc., general partners of the biggest VC in Turkey, managers from İşbank and experienced entrepreneurs with prior exits.

There is no ask for equity to be part of the program; it’s totally free for the startups to join. Startups that have a great use of technology with a dedicated team and a scalable business, which provides a unique value proposition are welcome. The program is vertical-agnostic for early stage startups, so applicants could be in fintech, martech, edutech, etc. The first important selection criterion is to have at least a prototype to show and who is on a journey to solve an important and validated problem. The second one is to have a scalable and sustainable business model. And the last one is to have a great team which can make their dream come true.

Kolektif HouseKolektif House

We position ourselves as more than an office; we actually offer a living coworking space that brings entrepreneurs, freelancers, investors, mentors, and corporates together. We believe in the power of collaboration and being stronger together. We continuously improve our products and amenities and add new ones based on demand and feedback. Besides meeting the basic workspace needs of our members such as 7/24 security, daily cleaning, high-speed internet etc, we invest in their souls by organizing educational and mindfulness events, offering free yoga classes, open buffet Monday breakfast gatherings, gluten-free treats, breathing exercises, meditation room availability and much more. We believe that anything that feeds your soul and heart also reflects positively on your business. Besides enabling an efficient working environment, we invest in people’s wellbeing. We plan inspiring, educational and instructive events for members who want to work while socializing and socialize while working. In short, “we help you grow your business and your heart”.
We offer not only a productive and efficient physical workspace but also a strong, inclusive community with additional perks like educational activities, which strengthen the advantage of working from a collaborative workspace. We invest in people’s souls in addition to helping grow their businesses.

Today, the world average of co-working offices is around 2-3%. We foresee that this margin will reach around 15-20%, which pictures a high growth potential of the market.
In 5 years, we aim to reach 14 locations and 17,000 members in Turkey. We also have plans to expand to the regional countries and open 6 locations, which corresponds to 7,800 members abroad.
We target both B2B and B2C businesses, which includes freelancers, startups, investors, mentors, and corporates. We aim to diversify our community as much as we can because we believe that all these forces help each other grow in this living ecosystem. Currently, we have successful national startups such as Sinemia, Iyzico, Zekai; investors and VCs such as 500Startups, BIC, RevoCapital as well as global corporate brands such as Accenture and Yandex in our community.

There is an upcoming trend that foresees the shared economy market to reach $335M worldwide. The leading influencing factor in this trend to expand globally in such a short time is its sustainability because it’s agile, flexible, and mobile. The co-working spaces, as a part of this growing market, is estimated to triple by the end of 2018.  Istanbul can be seen as a key location for this trend for Turkey and the region. There is nearly 11M m2 A/B style workspace in Istanbul, 50% located in central neighborhoods. Of this 50%, 15% is estimated to become co-working spaces in 10-15 years.
